*“Baba Yetu” **_(“Padre nostro” in lingua Swahili)_* è una preghiera musicale, un cantico spirituale in *lingua Swahili* scritto nel 2005 da *Christopher Chiyan Tin* _(celebre compositore americano di musica orchestrale e corale con influenze world music, vincitore di due Grammy Awards)_ e arrangiato dal sudafricano *André van der Merwe* Il cantante è *Alex Boyé* è nato a Londra da *genitori nigeriani* ma lo nacque così. La *madre*, durante la gravidanza, andò a Londra mentre suo padre rimase in Nigeria e Boyé non lo ha mai conosciuto. Allora la *madre* si risposò e lavorò per la metropolitana di Londra, pulivai binari di notte. Un treno va ed uno viene un giorno sua madre disse che sarebbe andata in Nigeria per un paio di settimane per *una visita necessaria ed essenziale* e ritorno dopo *otto anni*. Il figlio, ormai adulto e con la passione della musica religiosa, al ritorno gli chiese _"Mamma, perché tutto questo tempo?"_ e la madre: _"È stata una visita complicata"_ *Baba Yetu* Baba yetu, yetu uliye Mbinguni yetu, yetu amina! La lingua *Swahili* è parlata da circa 150 milioni di persone nel mondo ed è riconosciuta come *_lingua franca_* nell'intero continente africano insieme a _francese, inglese, arabo, spagnolo e portoghese_. Il nome deriva dall'arabo *sawahili* cioè *_“costiero”_***. Lo parlavano i *popoli della costa orientale africana*, una lingua di commercio per le rotte che univano l’Africa all’Asia. Uno maggiori centri è la mitica *Zanzibar* che canta *Paolo Conte* E poi arrivano *gli europei* _(portoghesi, tedeschi, spagnoli, inglesi)_ ed il *colonialismo* e lo swahili che fa? *Lo swahili studia, si contamina, si evolve.* Ai vocaboli originari *bantu* _(ceppo originario propriamente africano)_ dello *swahili antico* ai quali si erano aggiunti quelli di *origine araba o persiana* si infiltrarono i vocaboli di origine *portoghese* _(pesa per “denaro” o meza per “tavolo”)_, _*_tedesca_*_ _(shule per “scuola”)_ o *inglese* _(basi per “autobus” o gari per “automobile”)_. Le parole qualche volta ingannano e nascondono la magagna. *La parola ANTICO ha un valore di nobiltà ma non è un complimento*. *Le lingue per sopravvivere devono aprirsi ed evolvere* come l'italiano di Dante e Manzoni, il napoletano di Basile, Di Giacomo, Eduardo e Pino Daniele. *Le lingue e gli uomini non devono essere antichi* *Vincenzo Russo Traetto*
